0

Google has announced the expansion of NotebookLM Plus, a premium version of its AI-driven note-taking and research assistant, to individual users subscribed to the Google One AI Premium plan. This move comes nearly two months after the feature’s debut for enterprise users on Google Cloud and Google Workspace.

Enhanced Features and Capabilities

NotebookLM Plus offers a range of premium features, including higher usage limits, 5 times more usage than the free version, and support for up to 500 notebooks and 300 sources per notebook. Additionally, users can access up to 500 chat queries and 20 audio generations per day. These features are now available to individual subscribers on the Google One AI Premium tier, priced at $20 per month.

Student Discount and Accessibility

In a bid to make NotebookLM Plus more accessible, Google has introduced a 50% discount for students above 18 years in the U.S., offering the One AI Premium tier at a monthly charge of $9.99. This move aims to support students in their academic pursuits, providing them with a powerful tool for note-taking, research, and organization.

Audio Overviews and Language Support

Google is also planning to enhance the Audio Overviews feature in NotebookLM, which allows users to generate podcast-like audio conversations based on uploaded content. The company is working on adding support for languages beyond English, ensuring that the feature remains seamless and natural for users worldwide.

Mobile App and Future Developments

The Google Labs team is currently working on a dedicated mobile app for NotebookLM, aiming to provide a tailored experience for mobile users. Additionally, the company is exploring ways to leverage reasoning models and develop thinking and reasoning experiences within NotebookLM.

Commitment to Free Users

While NotebookLM Plus offers premium features to paid subscribers, Google has reassured users that the free version will continue to provide an excellent experience. The company is committed to supporting both free and paid users, ensuring that NotebookLM remains a valuable tool for note-taking, research, and organization.
