Microsoft Lists OpenAI as a Competitor in AI and Search
Microsoft’s relationship with OpenAI has been marked by substantial investment and strategic collaboration. The tech giant has invested approximately $13 billion in OpenAI, integrating its models into Microsoft’s enterprise and consumer products, while also serving as OpenAI’s exclusive cloud provider.

In response to these concerns, Microsoft recently relinquished its board observer seat at OpenAI.
This seat was acquired after a tumultuous period last fall when OpenAI’s board temporarily dismissed CEO Sam Altman, leading Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to offer positions to Altman and other top executives.
