CapCut to Cease Offering Free Cloud Storage Starting August 5

ByteDance’s popular video editing application, CapCut, has announced that it will discontinue its free cloud storage services effective August 5.

Users of the app have recently received notifications regarding this significant change, marking the end of the 1 GB free cloud storage option previously available.

Changes to Cloud Storage and Collaboration Features

CapCut’s new terms will now require users to pay for cloud storage. The app offers two paid plans: a 100GB storage option priced at $2.49 per month and a 1000GB storage option at $7.49 per month.

Consequently, creators who have been relying on the free storage will need to either subscribe to one of these plans or switch to another cloud service provider for their storage needs.

Additionally, CapCut is reducing the number of collaborators allowed on a free account. Previously, users could have up to five collaborators, but this limit will be cut down to two. According to a company spokesperson, from August 5, users will be able to add one collaborator for free.

For those needing more, CapCut will offer a Team Tier package that allows multiple user accounts to share the same cloud space.

Implications for Content Creators

This shift may impact content creators who have enjoyed the flexibility and collaborative features of CapCut’s free tier. With the introduction of paid storage plans, users must reassess their storage strategies and possibly incur additional costs to maintain their workflow.
