X, formerly known as Twitter, has taken a significant step towards bolstering user security by introducing support for passkeys on Android devices.

This move follows the platform’s earlier adoption of passkeys for iOS users, demonstrating a commitment to protecting user accounts from unauthorized access.

Passkeys offer a more secure alternative to traditional password-based authentication. By leveraging biometric authentication methods like Face ID or Touch ID, or physical security keys, passkeys eliminate the risk of password compromise through phishing attacks or data breaches. This added layer of protection is especially crucial in today’s digital landscape, where cyber threats are on the rise.

X joins a growing list of tech giants, including Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, PayPal, TikTok, WhatsApp, and GitHub, that have embraced passkeys as a more secure and user-friendly authentication method.

For X users, enabling passkeys is a straightforward process. Simply navigate to the app’s settings, select “Security and account access,” and then choose “Passkey.”

From there, follow the on-screen instructions to add a passkey using your preferred biometric or security key method.

By adopting passkeys, X is providing its users with a more secure and convenient way to access their accounts.

This move aligns with the broader industry trend towards stronger authentication methods and underscores X’s commitment to user privacy and security.
