As the summer travel season approaches, Uber has unveiled a new feature designed to simplify the travel experience for its users.

Announced on Tuesday, this feature enables travelers to search for rides in other cities and reserve them in advance, offering a seamless solution for arranging transportation before even arriving at their destination.

With a significant increase in summer travel anticipated—Airlines for America forecasts that around 271 million passengers will fly globally between June and August, up from 255 million last summer—Uber’s new feature addresses a critical need for travelers.

This update, long requested by riders, aims to streamline the process of making transportation arrangements ahead of time.

The new functionality allows users to select the “Search in a different city” option when planning a ride and enter their destination. One of the most beneficial aspects of this feature is the reservation capability, which lets travelers book a pickup time for a location they will reach later that day or up to 90 days in advance.

Additionally, Uber provides estimated wait times and costs for rides from local airports and within various cities.

This feature is now available in over 10,000 cities worldwide, including major destinations like Athens, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Florence, Paris, Rio De Janeiro, Santo Domingo, Sydney, Tokyo, and Vancouver.

Alongside this new search capability, Uber has introduced several other features. These include a partnership with Flying Blue, allowing members to earn miles, expanded reservations for the “Uber Bubbles” product in Paris, where visitors can book champagne tours, and a complimentary one-hour cruise experience in Pont Marie.

Overall, Uber’s latest feature is set to enhance the travel experience by offering greater convenience and planning flexibility, ensuring that users can secure transportation effortlessly as they navigate their summer travels.
