In the midst of this harrowing ordeal, it has been reported that five out of six crew members from the coast guard aircraft are currently unaccounted for, while one managed to escape. Japan Airlines confirmed that the flight had originated from Shin-Chitose airport on Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan.
